FAQ

While some children only need an extra boost in class and will benefit from one session a week, most struggling students will require two sessions per week.  Why do they need tutoring twice a week? Research has proven that students do best when they receive regular and consistent tutoring.  With regular, consistent tutoring you will begin to see your child make academic gains that will help boost their confidence in school.

How much tutoring will my child need?

It is always a good idea to have a snack before tutoring, so your child is not focused on being hungry during the session.

Should my child eat before tutoring?

If you need to cancel a tutoring appointment, please do so 48 hours in advance. Canceling within less than 48 hours before tutoring can result in a charge from me.  I do understand that my students sometimes get sick unexpectedly (so do I) and in the case they are ill, please notify me as soon as you know.

What if I need to cancel tutoring?

While we do not need a special area, it is best that we have a clutter free area with minimal distractions.  We want your child focusing on the lesson rather than the items in the room we are in.  If you have animals or other children in your home please make sure they are in another part of the house, or that they are quiet during the session so that your child is not distracted by them as well.

Do we need to provide a special area for tutoring in our home?
How will you update me with my child's progress?

Each time we complete a tutoring session I will fill out a tutoring form that will give you a brief synopsis of what we did for the session and if improvement was made during the session.  In addition, upon request I will test your child for free twice a year using standardized test materials to compare with previous data.

I ask that a parent/adult/guardian be home at all times when I am there to tutor your child.

Can I leave my house and run an errand while you are tutoring my child?

I accept PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Cash, or Check.

Payment for the full month of tutoring is due by the 8th of each month.  Nonpayment of services will result in a halt in tutoring until full payment has been received.

How do I pay you?

"My wife and I wanted to offer our son an early start on his education. Starting just prior to preschool at the age of 4, our son has been enjoying one on one tutoring with Miss Jaymie. Miss Jaymie makes it fun, yet she keeps him focused. Our boy is now finishing Kindergarten and reading at a level well ahead of his grade. Thank you so much Miss Jaymie!"
